About me

Heidi Heidi L. Audet, B. A.,E-RYT 500, AHC, has been practicing yoga for nearly 20 years. The journey began when her friend and colleague, Tammy Dumais, ERYT-500 "dragged" her to the mat and promised her it would be worth it. She was right! Yoga practice awakened a thirst for more spiritual knowledge, and before Heidi knew it, Tammy was back a few years later dangling a 200-hour teacher training program in front of her. The rest, as they say, is history.

Heidi has been teaching yoga since 2002, and became a certified yoga teacher in 2003. She is a nationally certified yoga instructor registered with the Yoga Alliance, a graduate of the Himalayan Institute's 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program, and holds additional certifications and has completed many trainings in Ashtanga Yoga, Advanced Vinyasa Yoga (Shiva Rea), DanceYOGA (TM), and Shiva Rea's Yoga Trance Dance, and Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery and Beyond (Exclusive Yoga- Camille Kitrell). Heidi also holds advanced-level certification in Color Me Yoga(TM) for Children, and represents founder and creater Marsha T. Danzig as a Master Trainer for the "Color Me Yoga(TM) for Children" Foundations Instructor Training. She is currently enrolled in the Whole Health Education and Wellness Counseling Program at the National Institute of Whole Health in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and has many years of study in nutritional education. She is a NAMA certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor(Himalayan Institute Program Graduate), is an adjunct faculty member for the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA, and has offered Ayurveda consults at the Institute's Wellness Center.

She gives thanks to her teachers who have influenced her personal practice and her teaching: Kimberly Dahlmann, Betty Moylan, David Swenson and Shelley Washington, Rod Stryker, Shiva Rea, Doug Swenson, Manjou Jois, Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini, Shari Friedrichsen, Sandy Anderson, Rolf Sovik, Kathryn Templeton, Dr. Rosy Mann and Marsha T. Danzig.

Her desire to help others has its roots in her former life as a school teacher. She enjoyed working for over 21 years in the public education sector. Her work with adults, special needs children and alternative education students in a myriad of educational settings has been a blessing to her. Seeing the light of understanding in her students' eyes has always brought her great joy. Heidi spent 13 years as a Special Olympics Track & Field and Winter Sports Coach working with special needs students from the Lewiston and Lisbon School systems. For nearly 19 years, she has been an assistant middle school field hockey coach, and for nearly 3 years served on the Board of Directors for the YWCA of Central Maine where she helped to empower the voices of those less heard.

It is through her passion, training and her own personal Yoga and Ayurveda practice that Heidi brings compassion, knowledge, safe instruction and understanding to her yoga teaching. She offers classes and private lessons in the Central and Southern Maine region, as well as lectures and workshops in Maine, NH and the North Shore of Massachussets in addition to classes at Chill Yoga -a yoga studio Heidi co-owns and manages with Nerys Bayley at 178 Lisbon St., Lewiston, Maine, above Forage Market. Chill Yoga calls the historic Ellard building's restored 2nd floor its home.

When not on the mat, Heidi loves cooking delicious healthy food, hiking distant mountains, downhill and cross country skiing, kayaking the rivers near her home, traveling with her best friend and love, Dan. Some of her favorite readings come from sacred texts, Denis Lehane Novels, books recommended by her book club, and lots of nutritional books. She loves putting pen to paper and spending time with her family. She resides in Greene, Maine.
